  • Cooking Time : More than 2 hours
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Main Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes (approx. 520g)
  • 1 Tbsp salt (for boiling)
  • 1 Tbsp sugar (for boiling)

Seasoning for Frying

  • 1 tsp coarse salt
  • 1 Tbsp dried parsley flakes
  • Parmesan cheese powder (optional, a pinch)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare your fresh potatoes. Peel them thoroughly, then cut each potato in half. Place the halved potatoes into a pot.

Step 1

Step 2

Pour 1.5 liters of water into the pot. This is enough water to submerge the potatoes.

Step 2

Step 3

Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water. This will help season the potatoes from the inside and enhance their flavor.

Step 3

Step 4

Also, add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Sugar helps to make the exterior of the potatoes crispier when fried. Boil the potatoes until they are slightly undercooked, not fully soft (about 5-7 minutes). They should offer slight resistance when pierced with a fork.

Step 4

Step 5

Drain the boiled potatoes and let them cool slightly. Then, cut them into your desired size (about 1cm thick). Place the cut fries into an airtight container or a zip-top bag and freeze them for at least 4 hours until solid. Freezing helps to remove moisture, making them extra crispy when fried.

Step 5

Step 6

In a deep pan or deep fryer, add a generous amount of cooking oil and heat it over medium heat. Once the oil reaches about 170°C (338°F), carefully add the frozen fries. Fry them until they turn golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan; it’s best to fry in batches.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the fries are golden and crispy, remove them from the oil and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. This step is crucial to prevent them from becoming soggy.

Step 7

Step 8

Lightly sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of coarse salt over the drained fries to season them.

Step 8

Step 9

Next, evenly sprinkle 1 tablespoon of dried parsley flakes over the fries. If desired, add a pinch of Parmesan cheese powder. Toss everything together quickly while the fries are still hot to ensure the seasonings adhere well. Your delicious french fries are now ready!

Step 9

Step 10

Are you ready to enjoy ‘Homemade French Fries’ that are even crispier and more delicious than you can imagine? They taste best when enjoyed immediately while warm!

Step 10

Step 11
