Main Ingredients

  • 1 cooked octopus tentacle
  • 1/2 green onion
  • 1/2 onion
  • 5cm piece of carrot
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

Spicy and Tangy Dressing

  • 2 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare one large octopus tentacle. Since it’s already cooked, you just need to slice it. Cut the octopus into bite-sized pieces. Slicing it thinly will give you a chewy yet tender texture.

Step 1

Step 2

Slice the green onion (1/2), onion (1/2), and carrot (5cm) into manageable strips. It’s best to cut the vegetables to a similar thickness as the octopus for even seasoning and a visually appealing dish.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s make the delicious spicy and tangy dressing. In a bowl, combine 2 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp gochugaru, 1 Tbsp vinegar, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1/2 Tbsp sesame seeds. Mix well until smooth and no lumps remain.

Step 3

Step 4

In a large mixing bowl, add the 4 lettuce leaves, torn into bite-sized pieces. Add the sliced green onion, onion, and carrot. Finally, add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic.

Step 4

Step 5

Add the sliced octopus to the mixing bowl. Pour the pre-made spicy and tangy dressing over the octopus and vegetables.

Step 5

Step 6

Gently toss and mix everything with your hands until the dressing evenly coats all the ingredients. Be careful not to mash the vegetables while mixing.

Step 6

Step 7

Your delicious seasoned octopus salad, featuring chewy octopus and crisp vegetables coated in a spicy and tangy dressing, is now ready! While dipping freshly cooked octopus in gochujang sauce is also tasty, mixing it with various vegetables creates a richer and more complex flavor. This dish is perfect as a side for drinks! My husband immediately grabbed a bottle of soju. This seasoned octopus salad is delightful to eat on its own and makes an excellent appetizer. Why not try making this refreshing seasoned octopus salad with its unique chewy texture, different from squid, for a tasty meal or a fun gathering!
