Super Simple Radish Salad for Single Households
Quick and Easy Radish Salad Recipe
This is a super simple radish salad that even single individuals can easily make with ingredients on hand! It offers a delightful texture reminiscent of dried radish (mu-malengi) and is incredibly quick to prepare. Besides the salting time, the actual preparation and mixing are surprisingly simple. Let’s make some delicious radish salad right away!
Main Ingredients- 1/2 radish
Seasoning- 1 Tbsp coarse sea salt
- 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 3 Tbsp maesilcheong (plum extract/syrup)
- 1 Tbsp coarse sea salt
- 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 3 Tbsp maesilcheong (plum extract/syrup)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
The green part of the radish tends to be sweeter, so we’ll use the green portion for this radish salad. Since we’ll be lightly salting it, slice the radish into slightly thicker pieces (about 0.5cm thickness). (Tip: The white inner part is great for clear soups!)
Step 2
Add 1 tablespoon of coarse sea salt to the sliced radish and mix well. This salting process draws out moisture, enhancing the crispiness and seasoning the radish. Let it sit for about 20 to 60 minutes. You’ll see water being released from the radish. Drain this water and set the radish aside; no need to rinse it separately. (Unfortunately, I don’t have a photo for this step ㅠㅠ)
Step 3
Now it’s time to add all the seasonings and mix! Add 2 tablespoons of gochugaru, 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic, and 3 tablespoons of maesilcheong in order. I’ve added a bit more maesilcheong because I prefer a sweeter and more pronounced flavor. Feel free to adjust the sweetness and spiciness to your preference. Mix everything gently until the seasonings are evenly distributed throughout the radish. Your super simple radish salad is ready!
