  • Store-bought yakisoba sauce, 1 packet (refer to package for recommended amount)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare our star ingredient: the yakisoba noodles. While there are various brands available, today we’re using a special product called ‘Yakisoba School’ noodles. For a rich and satisfying meal, we’ve also gathered cocktail shrimp, tender thinly sliced pork belly, crisp bean sprouts, fresh mixed greens, a savory fried egg, and aromatic katsuobushi. Feel free to add any other ingredients you love!

Step 1

Step 2

Rinse the frozen cocktail shrimp under cold water to thaw them. Once thawed, lightly season with salt and pepper for extra flavor. Letting them thaw naturally while you prepare other ingredients will save you time.

Step 2

Step 3

Wash the bean sprouts and mixed greens (like bok choy and cabbage) thoroughly under running water. It’s best to use a moderate amount of vegetables, as too many can release excess water during stir-frying.

Step 3

Step 4

Boil the yakisoba noodles in water for the time indicated on the package. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become mushy. Usually, 1-2 minutes is sufficient.

Step 4

Step 5

Immediately rinse the boiled noodles under cold water to stop the cooking process. Drain them thoroughly in a colander. Excess water can cause the noodles to clump or become soggy when stir-fried.

Step 5

Step 6

Heat a large pan over medium heat and add the thinly sliced pork belly. Cook until it’s golden brown and has rendered some of its fat. You can gently wipe away excess oil with a paper towel for a cleaner stir-fry.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the pork belly is cooked, add the prepared cocktail shrimp and stir-fry together. Shrimp cook quickly, so sauté them only until they turn pink to avoid them becoming tough.

Step 7

Step 8

Now, add the mixed greens, bean sprouts, and the drained yakisoba noodles to the pan with the cooked pork and shrimp. Pour the entire packet of store-bought yakisoba sauce over everything.

Step 8

Step 9

Stir-fry everything quickly over medium-high heat, ensuring all ingredients are well coated with the sauce. Continue stir-frying for about 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp and the sauce has slightly thickened, infusing all the components with flavor.

Step 9

Step 10

Carefully transfer the delicious stir-fried yakisoba to a serving plate, arranging it attractively.

Step 10

Step 11

Prepare a fried egg to your liking to top the yakisoba. A sunny-side-up egg with a runny yolk that can be mixed in is wonderful, or a fully cooked egg is also great. Have your katsuobushi ready for garnish.

Step 11

Step 12

Place the fried egg and a sprinkle of katsuobushi on top of the yakisoba. For an extra touch of creaminess and richness, drizzle some mayonnaise in a zigzag pattern. Your incredibly delicious yakisoba is now complete!

Step 12

Step 13

This yakisoba is a delightful harmony of chewy noodles, fresh vegetables, succulent seafood and pork, and a savory sauce. It’s a satisfying meal that’s perfect for finishing off in one sitting! Enjoy every bite!
