Recipe Info

  • Category : Tea / Beverage / Alcohol
  • Ingredient Category : Fruits
  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Pickled
  • Servings : 1 serving
  • Cooking Time : More than 2 hours
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients for Bokbunja Syrup

  • 400g fresh bokbunja (black raspberries)
  • 320g sugar (80% of the bokbunja weight)
  • 30g lemon juice (about 2 Tbsp for brightness)

Ingredients for Bokbunja Ade

  • 2-3 Tbsp homemade bokbunja syrup (adjust to taste)
  • 1 bottle sparkling water or club soda (as preferred)
  • 6-7 ice cubes (generous amount)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, gently wash the fresh bokbunja 4-5 times under cool running water. It’s important to drain them thoroughly to prevent spoilage and ensure a longer shelf life.

Step 1

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the washed bokbunja with the sugar. Gently mix them together, being careful not to crush the berries. The sugar will draw out the moisture from the bokbunja, naturally dissolving to create the syrup.

Step 2

Step 3

Next, add the 30g of lemon juice. This will add a refreshing tang and act as a natural preservative, enhancing the rich flavor of the bokbunja.

Step 3

Step 4

Once all ingredients are well combined, carefully transfer the mixture into a sterilized glass jar. Ensure the jar has been thoroughly washed and dried after being heat-sterilized. Leave about 2cm of space at the top.

Step 4

Step 5

Seal the jar tightly and let it sit at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, for about 24 hours to begin the infusion process. After this initial period, store it in the refrigerator. For an even deeper flavor, you can let it age in the fridge for another 1-2 weeks as the sugar fully dissolves and the flavors meld.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, let’s make a refreshing Bokbunja Ade! Fill a glass with 2-3 tablespoons of your homemade bokbunja syrup and a generous amount of ice cubes (6-7). Top it off with chilled sparkling water or club soda to your liking. Stir gently, and voilà! You have a visually appealing and wonderfully refreshing homemade Bokbunja Ade.
