  • Occasion : Everyday
  • Cooking : Grilled / Roasted
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 10 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Main Ingredients

  • 2 zucchinis

Savory Sauce

  • 1 soju cup soy sauce (approx. 100ml)
  • 2 soju cups water (approx. 200ml)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (using a rice spoon)
  • 1/2 tablespoon red pepper flakes (using a rice spoon)
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic (using a rice spoon)
  • 1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • A little chopped green onion

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the zucchinis thoroughly, then slice them into rounds about 0.5cm thick. Slicing them to a moderate thickness is important; if they’re too thin, they might break apart while cooking.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, let’s make the delicious sauce that will make this pan-fried zucchini so tasty! In a wide bowl, pour in 1 soju cup (approx. 100ml) of soy sauce and 2 soju cups (approx. 200ml) of water. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar for sweetness, 1/2 tablespoon of red pepper flakes for a mild kick, and 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic for flavor. Finally, add 1/2 tablespoon of sesame seeds for nuttiness and the chopped green onions. Stir everything together until well combined.

Step 2

Step 3

Heat a pan with a generous amount of cooking oil over medium heat. Place the sliced zucchinis in the pan and fry them until golden brown on both sides. Cooking over medium heat rather than high heat will ensure the inside becomes tender. Fry until you achieve a nice golden color on both sides.

Step 3

Step 4

Immediately transfer the well-fried zucchinis into the prepared sauce. Putting them into the sauce while they are still hot helps the flavors meld beautifully and results in a richer taste.

Step 4

Step 5

It’s best to make enough sauce so that the pan-fried zucchini is mostly submerged. Gently toss the zucchinis in the sauce, flipping them over to ensure they are evenly coated. Let them simmer for about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to simmer for too long, as the zucchini might become too soft.

Step 5

Step 6

Transfer the zucchini, nicely coated in the delicious sauce, onto a plate. Your flavorful pan-fried zucchini is ready! It’s delicious when served warm, but also a delightful side dish when cooled. It’s perfect as a side for rice or as a simple accompaniment to drinks.
