Main Ingredients- 320g rice (warm rice)
- 80g frozen tteokgalbi
- 1/3 stalk green onion
- 1/4 onion
- 1/5 carrot
- 2 Tbsp canned corn
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 0.3~0.5 Tbsp oyster sauce (adjust to taste)
- Pinch of black pepper
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- Pinch of sesame seeds
- Suitable amount of cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the frozen tteokgalbi or neobiani, and chop it into small, bite-sized pieces (about 1cm or less). This helps it blend well with the other fried rice ingredients and improves the texture.
Step 2
Next, prepare the vegetables that will add flavor to the fried rice. Finely mince the carrot, onion, and green onion with a knife. Drain the canned corn and set aside about 2 tablespoons.
Step 3
Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat with a generous amount of cooking oil. Add the minced green onion and stir-fry to create fragrant green onion oil. It’s important to fry the green onion until it’s golden brown and releases a sweet aroma. This will add a deep flavor to the entire fried rice.
Step 4
Once the green onion oil is fragrant, turn up the heat to high. Add the minced onion, carrot, and canned corn, and stir-fry quickly. Cook until the onion becomes translucent and the carrots are slightly tender.
Step 5
Add the chopped tteokgalbi and stir-fry with the vegetables. Since the tteokgalbi is already cooked, you don’t need to cook it for a long time; just stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until it’s well mixed with the vegetables.
Step 6
Push the stir-fried ingredients to one side of the frying pan. Pour 1 tablespoon of soy sauce into the empty space and let it simmer until it starts to bubble around the edges. This step enhances the savory flavor of the soy sauce.
Step 7
Once the soy sauce is simmering nicely, mix it with the ingredients and stir-fry evenly. Sprinkle some black pepper at this stage to enhance the aroma. Stir-fry to ensure the soy sauce is well absorbed by the ingredients.
Step 8
Now, add about one and a half bowls of rice (approx. 320g). Use a spatula to press down on the rice, breaking up any clumps, as you stir-fry. It’s important to ensure the rice grains are evenly mixed with the ingredients. While stir-frying, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, by adding more oyster sauce or a pinch of salt.
Step 9
Finally, just before turning off the heat, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and a generous amount of sesame seeds for a glossy finish and nutty aroma. Give it a final mix with all the ingredients, and your delicious tteokgalbi fried rice is ready!
