Spicy & Sweet Bulgogi Rice Bowl
Golden Recipe for a Spicy Bulgogi Rice Bowl – Perfect for When You Have No Appetite!
Let’s make a delightful spicy and sweet bulgogi rice bowl that’s perfect for those times when your appetite isn’t quite back to normal. This dish is a favorite for its balance of savory, spicy, and sweet flavors.
Main Ingredients- 200g Beef for Bulgogi (thinly sliced)
- 1 handful Cabbage
- 1/2 Onion
- 1/2 Carrot
- 1 Korean Chili Pepper (optional)
- 1 handful Green Onions
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the bulgogi marinade by combining gochujang, soy sauce, gochugaru, sugar, minced garlic, and toasted sesame seeds in a bowl. Mix them well. Add the 200g of thinly sliced beef for bulgogi to the marinade and gently mix with your hands, ensuring each piece is coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes. If you’re short on time, you can cook it immediately, but marinating allows the flavors to deepen.
Step 2
Heat a little oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onions and stir-fry until fragrant to create infused oil. Once the aroma of the green onions is released, add the marinated beef to the pan. Increase the heat to medium-high and stir-fry quickly, breaking up any clumps of meat with chopsticks or a spatula to ensure even cooking.
Step 3
When the beef is about halfway cooked, add the prepared vegetables. Stir in the thinly sliced onion, carrot, Korean chili pepper (if you prefer a spicier kick), and the roughly chopped cabbage. Sauté for a few minutes, but avoid overcooking to maintain a pleasant crispness in the vegetables.
Step 4
Continue to stir-fry for another 3-5 minutes after adding the vegetables. The natural moisture from the vegetables will combine with the bulgogi sauce, creating a delicious glaze that coats all the ingredients. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly and all the ingredients are well-cooked and glossy. Then, turn off the heat.
Step 5
Serve a generous portion of hot rice in a bowl. Top the rice with the freshly cooked spicy and sweet bulgogi mixture. For an extra touch, you can add a fried egg or some shredded seaweed (gim) on top. Enjoy your delicious Bulgogi Rice Bowl!
