Main Ingredients

  • 1 handful Ggwari peppers (about 150-200g)
  • 2 Tbsp all-purpose flour

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
  • 1/4 green onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Pinch of toasted sesame seeds (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, wash the Ggwari peppers thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt. Shake off excess water and set aside.

Step 1

Step 2

Inspect the washed peppers. If any are too long, cut them into 2-3 bite-sized pieces with scissors or a knife. Thicker peppers can be halved lengthwise.

Step 2

Step 3

Place the prepared Ggwari peppers in a large bowl. Sprinkle the 2 tablespoons of flour over them and gently toss or shake the bowl to coat the peppers evenly with a thin layer of flour, ensuring there are no clumps.

Step 3

Step 4

Fill a pot with water and place a steamer basket on top. Line the steamer basket with a damp cloth or paper towel to prevent the peppers from falling through the holes. Cover with a lid and bring the water to a rolling boil until steam rises generously.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the steam is strong, carefully arrange the flour-coated Ggwari peppers in the steamer basket. Cover again and steam for about 8 minutes. Be careful not to overcook, as they can become mushy.

Step 5

Step 6

While the peppers are steaming, finely chop the green onion, including both white and green parts.

Step 6

Step 7

In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, oligosaccharide, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and the chopped green onion. Mix well to create the seasoning sauce. Add the sesame oil just before mixing with the peppers.

Step 7

Step 8

Transfer the steamed Ggwari peppers to a large bowl. Pour the prepared seasoning sauce over them. Gently toss using gloves to coat the peppers evenly without breaking them. Finish by drizzling with sesame oil and sprinkling with toasted sesame seeds.
