Main Ingredients- 1 pack of kelp for wraps (approx. 150-200g)
- 10 sheets of pickled radish wraps
- 1/2 yellow bell pepper
- 1/2 red bell pepper
- 1/4 carrot
- 120g imitation crab meat (surimi sticks)
Crab Stick Seasoning- 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/3 Tbsp wasabi (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp flying fish roe (tobiko)
- 2 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/3 Tbsp wasabi (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp flying fish roe (tobiko)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the kelp for wraps under cold water several times to remove any sticky salt. Then, soak it in water for about 30 minutes to thoroughly remove excess salt, which will make it softer. Once drained, pat the kelp dry.
Step 2
Remove the seeds from the yellow bell pepper, wash it thoroughly, and then thinly julienne it into strips about 0.3cm thick. The vibrant color will enhance the visual appeal of the dish.
Step 3
Similarly, remove the seeds from the red bell pepper, wash it well, and julienne it into thin strips of the same thickness as the yellow bell pepper. Using both colors of bell pepper will make the rolls look more appetizing.
Step 4
Peel and wash the carrot, then julienne it into thin strips about 0.3cm thick. The crisp texture of the carrot will balance the flavors.
Step 5
Shred the imitation crab sticks into thin strips. In a bowl, combine the shredded crab sticks with 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice, and 1/3 tablespoon of wasabi. Mix well to coat. Adjust the amount of wasabi according to your preference. Finally, gently mix in 1 tablespoon of flying fish roe to create the flavorful crab filling.
Step 6
Now it’s time to roll everything together. Lay a sheet of kelp flat, then place a pickled radish wrap on top. Arrange a portion of the julienned vegetables (bell peppers, carrot) and the seasoned crab filling onto the wrap. As shown in the picture, arrange them neatly, then tightly roll from the bottom upwards.
Step 7
The imitation crab sticks used in this recipe are similar to the product shown in the accompanying image. (For reference)
Step 8
Once rolled, slice the kelp rolls into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm thick. You’ve completed a simple yet elegant healthy snack. Isn’t that easy?
Step 9
Optionally, you can garnish the top of the finished kelp rolls with a little flying fish roe. The popping texture adds a fun element. Enjoy your delicious creation!
