Main Ingredients

  • 2 fresh eggs
  • 10g butter (about 1cm thick)
  • 1 bowl of cooked rice (approx. 200g)

Special Soy Sauce Mixture

  • 1.5 Tbsp savory soy sauce (for seasoning)
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp cooking sake (mirin)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Garnish (Optional)

  • A little chopped green onion

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s make the delicious soy sauce mixture. In a small bowl, combine 1.5 Tbsp of soy sauce and 2 Tbsp of water. Then, add 1 Tbsp of cooking sake and 1 Tbsp of sesame oil. Stir everything together until well combined to create a flavorful soy sauce mixture.

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare a microwave-safe bowl of appropriate size. Carefully crack 2 fresh eggs into the bowl. Try not to break the yolks at this stage.

Step 2

Step 3

Tip: Keeping the yolks intact will allow you to enjoy their creamy texture after cooking. Pour the prepared soy sauce mixture over the eggs.

Step 3

Step 4

Gently pierce the egg yolks with a fork or chopstick. (This helps the yolks cook evenly and absorb the soy sauce.) Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a microwave-safe lid, and microwave for 1 minute. Check the doneness of the eggs, and if they aren’t cooked to your liking, microwave in 30-second intervals until they reach your desired consistency. I microwaved mine for a total of 1 minute and 30 seconds. (Cooking time may vary depending on your microwave’s wattage!)

Step 4

Step 5

Now, let’s prepare the rice. Place 1 bowl of warm cooked rice into a serving bowl. If your rice is cold, warm it in the microwave for about 30 seconds. Once the rice is warm, place the 10g of butter in the center of the rice. The butter will slowly melt and spread through the rice grains.

Step 5

Step 6

Finally, carefully place the warm, freshly microwaved soy sauce egg mixture on top of the rice with the melting butter. If you like, garnish with chopped green onions for an extra touch of flavor. Mix everything together while it’s hot to fully enjoy the rich, savory taste that fills your mouth. Enjoy your meal!
