  • 400g beef (thinly sliced for bulgogi or stir-fry)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/4 medium carrot
  • 3 Tbsp cooking oil
  • A small bunch of green onions (for garnish)
  • A pinch of sesame seeds (for garnish)

First, let’s marinate the beef. In a bowl, combine the 400g of beef with 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp cooking wine, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of black pepper. Gently mix everything together. This marination step helps to tenderize the beef and enhance its flavor.

Now, prepare your vegetables. Slice the onion into strips. Cut the carrot into thin slices, then julienne them. Rinse the 300g of blanched bamboo shoots under running water and drain them well. Cut them into bite-sized pieces, about 0.5cm thick. (If using pre-blanched bamboo shoots, you can use them directly.)

It’s time to stir-fry! Heat 3 Tbsp of cooking oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the chopped green onions and sauté them until they become fragrant and lightly golden. This process creates delicious scallion-infused oil, adding wonderful depth to your dish.

Once the scallion oil is fragrant, add the marinated beef to the wok. Stir-fry over medium heat until the beef is browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Be careful not to overcook the beef, as it can become tough.
