You’ve probably heard of ‘So-tteok-so-tteok’ lately! Inspired by that popular dish, I’ve created ‘Skewered Rice Rolls,’ featuring a delightful ‘Meat-Rice-Meat-Rice’ layering. This recipe is perfect for all ages, offering a filling and delicious meal. Imagine packing these beautiful rice rolls into a bento box for a wonderful picnic! It’s a fantastic idea for a special day or a fun outing.
Main Ingredients- 150g fresh beef
- 4 sheets rice paper
- 1 bowl warm white rice
- 80g well-fermented kimchi
- 20g fresh green onion
- 1/4 onion
- 2 skewers
Kimchi Fried Rice Seasoning- 1/2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp Jin Ganjang (soup soy sauce)
- 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
Beef Marinade- 4 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 pinches black pepper
- 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 Tbsp Jin Ganjang (soup soy sauce)
- 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
Beef Marinade- 4 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 pinches black pepper
- 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s introduce the stars of our dish: flavorful kimchi, fluffy rice, juicy beef, delicate rice paper, crisp onion and green onion, and aromatic garlic. Don’t forget the skewers!
Step 2
Thoroughly wash all your ingredients. Finely mince the kimchi, green onion, onion, and garlic. This prep work is key to developing delicious flavors!
Step 3
Lightly season the beef with salt and pepper. This simple step enhances the natural taste of the meat.
Step 4
Let’s make some delicious kimchi fried rice! Heat a pan with some oil and sauté the minced green onion and onion until fragrant. Add the minced kimchi and stir-fry together. Then, add a bowl of rice and mix well. Finally, add the kimchi fried rice seasoning ingredients and adjust the taste for perfectly seasoned kimchi fried rice!
Step 5
Sear the marinated beef in a hot pan until beautifully browned. Once cooked, cut the beef into bite-sized pieces, approximately 3x6cm rectangles.
Step 6
Prepare the beef marinade by combining 4 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp sugar, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil, and 2 pinches of pepper. Gently simmer this mixture over low heat until slightly thickened. This delicious sauce will elevate your beef to the next level.
Step 7
Quickly dip each sheet of rice paper in warm water until it becomes pliable, being careful not to oversoak it. Place a portion of the kimchi fried rice onto the softened rice paper and roll it up tightly, similar to how you would form sushi.
Step 8
Now it’s time to assemble the skewers! Alternate threading the grilled beef and the rice paper-wrapped rice onto the skewers in a ‘Meat-Rice-Meat-Rice’ pattern. This creates visually appealing and easy-to-eat skewer rolls.
Step 9
