Spicy Gochujang Pork Belly
[Lunchbox Menu] Sweet and Spicy Gochujang Pork Belly
Revealing my husband’s absolute favorite dish.
Main Ingredients- Pork belly 500g
- Onion 0.5
- Carrot a little
- Cheongyang chili pepper (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 500g of fresh pork belly. Cut it into bite-sized pieces for easier cooking. Avoid cutting them too small, as they can lose moisture when cooked. Aim for a comfortable size for eating.
Step 2
Adding vegetables enhances the flavor. Slice half an onion into thick strips. Julienne the carrot similarly. If you enjoy a spicier kick, finely chop 1-2 Cheongyang chili peppers to add (optional).
Step 3
Combine the sliced pork belly and vegetables in a bowl. Now, let’s make the delicious marinade. Add 2 Tbsp Gochujang, 8 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide, 2 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1 Tbsp Gochugaru. Mix everything together thoroughly with your hands, ensuring the marinade coats all the ingredients evenly. Finally, add a pinch of sesame seeds and mix. Cover with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. This marination time is key for developing a deep flavor.
Step 4
Lightly grease a preheated pan with a small amount of oil. Pork belly releases its own fat, so you don’t need much. Place the marinated pork belly in the pan and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent burning, until the pork is thoroughly cooked through and nicely browned. You’ll know it’s ready when it’s golden brown and smells wonderfully aromatic.
Step 5
And there you have it – a deliciously sweet and spicy Gochujang Pork Belly! Serve it over a bowl of hot rice for a satisfying meal, or pack it as a lunchbox side dish. Your husband and children are sure to love it! It’s a fantastic dish that the whole family can enjoy. Bon appétit!
