I’m ‘Bully Mom So-Jjemammi’, currently passionately pursuing a healthy diet and focusing on burning fat. I realized the importance of managing my diet alongside systematic care. That’s when my uncle-in-law, Yuri, shared Lee Na-young and Won Bin’s ‘#DietMeal’, ‘#EatableSteak’, and ‘#TomatoStew’ recipe. He mentioned it was delicious, so I immediately made it on the Monday I started exercising and have been eating it ever since.

This ‘Eatable Steak’ and ‘Tomato Onion Steak’, part of Lee Na-young and Won Bin’s diet plan, is rich in protein and low in fat. While it’s not difficult to make, it does take some time to cook, so please be patient as you follow along!

I decided to double the recipe’s ingredients. I plan to eat this throughout my diet, but I have a hunch my daughters, the So-Jjemae, will want to share it too! (laughs)

Peeling tomatoes is easier than you think! First, wash the tomatoes thoroughly and make a small cross-shaped cut on the skin of each.

Briefly blanch the tomatoes in boiling water – just enough for the skin to start peeling away – then immediately remove them.

After blanching, the skins will peel off effortlessly! Prepare them by removing all the skins.

Once peeled, finely chop the tomatoes. Cutting them into small pieces will help them break down nicely as they cook.

Peel the onions and slice them into thin strips (about 0.5cm thick). If you slice them too thinly, they might become mushy when cooked.

In a heavy-bottomed pot, create a layer of the sliced onions at the bottom. The onions will release their natural sweetness and moisture as they cook.

Now, let’s prepare the beef. Trim any sinew and visible fat from the sirloin. Since this is a diet meal, it’s best to remove as much fat as possible.

Heat a pan over high heat. Sear the beef sirloin on both sides quickly to lock in the juices. You only need to cook the exterior to keep it tender and flavorful inside.

There’s no need to overcook the beef. The goal is just to remove any gamey smell and sear the outside. Once seared, cut the beef into small, bite-sized pieces (about 1-2cm).

and finally, the prepared beef! Arrange these ingredients in layers in the pot. Then, simmer gently over medium-low heat. The key is to let the natural flavors of the ingredients shine.

Since I doubled the recipe, I used two pots and cooked them simultaneously. The most crucial tip here is NOT to add any water! The moisture released from the onions and tomatoes will naturally create a wonderful tomato stew.

After about 20 minutes of simmering, you’ll notice liquid starting to form from the ingredients. From this point on, it’s essential to stir frequently to prevent anything from sticking to the bottom. Using a pot with a thick base is highly recommended.

I simmered mine for about 40 minutes over medium-low heat. If you prefer a bit more texture from the meat and tomatoes, simmering for 20-30 minutes will also yield a delicious result.
