Essential Ingredients

  • 1 slice of processed ham (square or rectangular slices work)
  • Kitchen knife

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your slice of ham. While square slices are commonly used for lunchbox decorations, rectangular slices can also be used to create beautiful flower shapes. Either shape will work perfectly!

Step 1

Step 2

Fold the slice of ham exactly in half. Folding helps ensure symmetry when you make the cuts, resulting in more uniform flower petals.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, using your knife, carefully make thin, even cuts into about two-thirds of the folded ham, leaving the folded edge intact. The closer your cuts, the more delicate and full your flower will appear. Be sure to cut gently to prevent the ham from tearing.

Step 3

Step 4

While keeping the ham folded, tightly roll it up from one end. Roll it snugly to create a compact shape that resembles a flower bud.

Step 4

Step 5

And there you have it – a charming ham flower! For extra security, you can insert a toothpick or use a lightly blanched piece of chive to tie it together. However, I prefer to skip the extra fixation and simply tuck the ham flower between other lunchbox items for natural support. This keeps it looking neat and makes it easy to eat.
