Aromatic Spring Nettle Ramen for a Fresh Start
Spring Nettle Ramen to Awaken Your Palate This Weekend
As spring blossoms all around, our hearts might still feel a lingering chill. This weekend, to make solo dining more enjoyable, I’ve infused ramen with the essence of spring. This recipe brings the vibrant fragrance of fresh nettles into a comforting bowl of ramen, perfect for a light yet satisfying meal.
Ingredients- 1 packet of ramen (choose your favorite brand)
- 1 handful of fresh spring nettles (approx. 50g, thoroughly cleaned and trimmed)
- 1 egg
- Water (refer to the ramen package for the recommended amount, approximately 500ml)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Bring approximately 500ml of water to a rolling boil in a pot over high heat. Once boiling, add the soup base powder and dried vegetable flakes from the ramen package and stir to dissolve. This step helps to deepen the flavor of the broth.
Step 2
As the broth returns to a boil, carefully add the ramen noodles. To achieve a chewier texture, lift the noodles with chopsticks and gently plunge them back into the boiling water about 2-3 times. This action helps to cook the noodles evenly and prevent them from sticking together.
Step 3
Once the noodles have reached your desired tenderness, crack the egg directly into the pot. For a soft-boiled yolk, be gentle when adding the egg. Next, add the prepared spring nettles. Cook them briefly, just until they wilt slightly. Overcooking the nettles can make them mushy and diminish their delicate aroma, so a quick stir is all that’s needed.
Step 4
Carefully transfer the finished spring nettle ramen to a serving bowl. Arrange it attractively. The delightful combination of chewy noodles, savory broth, and the fresh, earthy flavor of the nettles will bring the essence of spring to your meal. Enjoy this comforting and fragrant ramen for a truly special weekend lunch!
