Indulge in the delightful chewy texture of rice cakes combined with ramen, elevated by a perfectly poached egg. This dish, when paired with a simple side of kimchi, offers a satisfying and complete meal. A must-try recipe from ‘All Recipes of the World’ and ‘10000 Recipe’!
Essential Ingredients- 1 paper cup of tteokguk tteok (rice cake slices for soup, approx. 100g)
- 1 packet of ramen
- 1 fresh egg
- 1/2 stalk of green onion (scallion)
- 1/2 teaspoon of fine gochugaru (Korean chili powder)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the tteokguk tteok. To prevent them from sticking together, soak the rice cakes in cold water for 10 minutes. This step ensures they become wonderfully chewy and tender when cooked.
Step 2
Wash the green onion thoroughly and slice it into small, bite-sized pieces. This will be added at the end to provide a fresh, aromatic flavor.
Step 3
Now, let’s start cooking! Fill a pot with plenty of water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add the ramen noodles and the seasoning packet, and cook. When the ramen is nearly done, add the soaked tteokguk tteok and continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes. Just before finishing, crack a fresh egg directly into the boiling broth. Add the chopped green onions as well. For a lovely texture, try not to stir the egg too much immediately, allowing the yolk to remain partially intact for a rich, creamy element.
Step 4
Finally, sprinkle a little fine gochugaru over the top for a touch of spicy flavor that enhances the overall taste. Serve this delicious ramen with your favorite kimchi or other side dishes for a hearty and satisfying meal!
