Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s make simple yet delicious French toast! It’s perfect as a kids’ snack or a hearty breakfast! ♬♪
Step 2
First, prepare the bread. Cut the bread slices in half into bite-sized pieces. You can also slice them thinner if you prefer.
Step 3
Pour 1 cup (200ml) of milk into a wide dish. Place the cut bread slices into the milk and let them soak for about 1-2 minutes, flipping them front and back until they are nicely moistened. Be careful not to over-soak the bread, making it too soggy.
Step 4
In another bowl, crack 2 eggs and add a pinch of salt. The salt helps to eliminate any eggy smell and enhances the flavor.
Step 5
Using a whisk or fork, beat the eggs and salt together until well combined, creating a smooth egg mixture. Now, dip the milk-soaked bread slices into this egg mixture, coating both sides thoroughly. Handle the bread gently to prevent it from breaking.
Step 6
Once the bread is nicely coated with the milk and egg mixture, your French toast is almost ready to be cooked! It will be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Step 7
Heat a pan over medium-low heat and melt 1 tablespoon (approx. 15g) of butter. Keep an eye on the heat to prevent the butter from burning. As the butter melts, it will release a wonderful aroma.
Step 8
Carefully place the egg-coated bread slices into the hot pan. Cook them until golden brown and slightly crispy on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Adjust the heat as needed.
Step 9
For an even richer flavor, I added another tablespoon of butter to cook the second side. Using enough butter creates a more flavorful and appetizing result. Ensure you manage the heat to avoid burning the edges of the bread.
Step 10
Once beautifully golden brown, transfer the French toast to a plate. You can enjoy it as is or customize it to your liking. Sprinkle with sugar, drizzle with maple syrup or honey, or serve with fresh fruits for an extra treat. I opted for a light sprinkle of sugar to enhance the sweetness.
Step 11
Voila! Your fluffy, soft, and sweet French toast is ready. It’s a perfect, satisfying breakfast option or a delightful snack to enjoy anytime. Enjoy your delicious creation! 😀
