Ingredients

  • 2 Ho-tteok (sweet Korean pancakes)
  • 1 fresh egg
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • 1 slice cheddar cheese

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare all your ingredients. Ensure the Ho-tteok are at room temperature so they are pliable and easy to handle.

Step 1

Step 2

Carefully crack the egg into a non-stick skillet. Cook the egg to your preference, whether you like it sunny-side up (runny yolk) or over-easy (fully cooked yolk). Aim for a nicely formed egg.

Step 2

Step 3

Now, let’s cook the Ho-tteok. Heat a pan over medium-low heat and melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Once the butter is melted and fragrant, place the 2 Ho-tteok into the pan.

Step 3

Step 4

Using a spatula, gently press down on the Ho-tteok to flatten them slightly. This will help them cook evenly and become wonderfully crispy and golden brown. Cook for a few minutes until one side is nicely browned, then carefully flip and cook the other side to a similar golden hue.

Step 4

Step 5

Once both sides of one Ho-tteok are cooked, carefully place the prepared egg on top of it. If using a runny yolk, be gentle to avoid breaking it.

Step 5

Step 6

Next, place the slice of cheddar cheese over the egg. The residual heat will start to melt the cheese, adding a lovely savory element.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, take the second Ho-tteok and place it on top of the cheese, creating a sandwich. Gently press down. Your Honey Butter Ho-tteok McGknight is now complete! Serve immediately while warm for the best texture and flavor experience.
