  • 15 Shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • A small piece of Red Bell Pepper (for color)

Dressing Ingredients

  • 1 pinch of Salt (to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame Seed Oil
  • Sesame Seeds (for garnish and flavor)

Rinse the frozen shrimp thoroughly under cold running water. Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the shrimp, and blanch for about 1-2 minutes until just cooked through. Drain the shrimp well and set aside. Be careful not to overcook, as they can become tough.

Wash the bok choy carefully under running water. In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and add about 1/2 Tbsp of salt. Add the bok choy, starting with the stems, and blanch for about 15 seconds. The leaves cook much faster than the stems, so blanching them briefly will ensure a crisp texture. Avoid overcooking.

Immediately transfer the blanched bok choy to a bowl of ice-cold water to stop the cooking process. Rinse them under cold water. Gently squeeze out as much excess water as possible. This step is crucial to prevent the salad from becoming watery and to maintain its crispness.

Once the water is squeezed out, roughly chop the bok choy into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3 cm long) and place them in a mixing bowl. Thinly julienne the red bell pepper and add it to the bowl for a vibrant splash of color and added crunch.

Add the prepared shrimp to the bowl with the bok choy and red bell pepper. Now, add all the dressing ingredients. Start with a pinch of salt and adjust to your preference later. Add the sesame seed oil and a generous sprinkle of sesame seeds for a nutty aroma and flavor.
