Main Ingredients

  • Leftover bread (any kind: white bread, baguette, etc.) – 4-5 slices

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • Ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar 2 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare your leftover bread. Any type of bread like sliced bread, baguette, or rolls will work. Cut the bread into desired pieces, about 1.5cm to 2cm thick (e.g., 2-3cm cubes). Avoid cutting them too thin, as they might break easily. A moderate thickness is best.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the bread pieces and fry them, turning them over, until golden brown and slightly crisp. Fry until the outer surface of the bread becomes slightly firm and develops an appetizing golden-brown color. This process helps evaporate the moisture from the bread, resulting in a crispier texture.

Step 2

Step 3

Transfer the fried bread pieces to a plate lined with paper towels or a wire rack to drain excess oil. Allowing the oil to drain and cooling them slightly will prevent them from becoming soggy and help maintain their crispiness. They don’t need to cool completely; just let the residual heat dissipate.

Step 3

Step 4

In a small bowl, mix the ground cinnamon and sugar until well combined to create the cinnamon sugar topping. You can either add the slightly cooled bread pieces to the bowl or sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the bread. The topping will adhere better when the bread is still slightly warm. Make sure to coat the pieces thoroughly by turning them.
