- 2 Mushrooms (sliced)
- 3 strips Bacon (cut into pieces)
Sauce & Toppings- Tomato Sauce (or Rosé/Cream Sauce) for 1 serving (approx. 200g)
- 80g Mozzarella Cheese
- 2 slices Cheddar Cheese
- 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp Honey
- Basil leaves (optional)
- Tomato Sauce (or Rosé/Cream Sauce) for 1 serving (approx. 200g)
- 80g Mozzarella Cheese
- 2 slices Cheddar Cheese
- 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp Honey
- Basil leaves (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly wash the sweet potatoes. Steam them whole, keeping the skin on for extra nutrients and easier handling, until they are very tender. A rice cooker’s ‘steam’ function (e.g., 40 minutes) is a convenient method. Ensure they are cooked through and soft.
Step 2
While the steamed sweet potatoes are still warm, add 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise and 1 tablespoon of honey. Mash them thoroughly with a fork or potato masher until smooth and well combined. This creates a creamy and sweet sweet potato base.
Step 3
Spread the mashed sweet potato mixture evenly onto a wide, flat serving plate or an oven-safe dish. Aim for a consistent layer to provide a good base for the toppings.
Step 4
Next, spread approximately 200g of tomato sauce evenly over the sweet potato layer. If you prefer, rosé or cream sauce can be used for a different flavor profile. Be mindful not to use too much sauce, as it can make the pizza soggy.
Step 5
Arrange the thinly sliced onion and bell pepper pieces attractively over the sauce. The colorful vegetables will make the pizza visually appealing.
Step 6
Add the thinly sliced mushrooms, scattering them evenly amongst the other vegetables. The mushrooms add a lovely earthy flavor to the pizza.
Step 7
Now for the cheesy goodness! Sprinkle 80g of mozzarella cheese generously over the toppings. Then, tear the 2 slices of cheddar cheese and place them artfully on top. The melting cheese will bind all the ingredients together.
Step 8
Finally, sprinkle the cut bacon pieces liberally over the cheese. The salty bacon complements the sweetness of the sweet potato beautifully. If you have basil leaves, scatter a few on top for added aroma (optional).
Step 9
Bake in a preheated oven at 185°C (365°F) for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bacon is lightly crisped. Enjoy your delicious spoonable sweet potato pizza! Cooking time may vary depending on your oven.
